The Muhafazat of Hama is one of the most ancient inhabited areas in the Middle East .  It dates from very far ancient ages.

The archaeological missions assure that the ston age man lived in the different parts of the Orontes Basin and left tools,traces and houses dating from the per-historic ages .

it covers an area of / 8880 / squrare kilometers and has about /800,000/ inhabitants. It is a wonderful combination of plains,mountains and deserts throgh which the Orontes river runs with a band of verdure that extends to 171 km not to mention the beautiful forests
